How
does Mediation work?
- Couples
who are separating, or have already done so, often meet difficulties
which they find unable to resolve for themselves.
- They
probably agree that the assistance of a third party may help them
to solve these problems.
- They
would like to find their own agreement, rather than have one imposed
upon them by a Court.
Make
a joint approach to a Mediator.
- Couples
meet with the Mediator for a number of sessions to discuss the problems.
- To
consider financial issues couples will complete a form disclosing
financial circumstances.
- The
Mediator will help couples to have open discussions and will summarise
any proposals reached.
- The
proposals will not be legally binding and the couple will be encouraged
to seek advice from their own solicitors both during and at the end
of the process.
